Family is an important concept in terms of the continuation and continuity of societies. The establishment of the family takes place through marriage in our society. Marriage is one of the important turning points of human life and is defined as the whole of relationships between man and woman to create a new family. In the historical process, as in many societies, the Turkish nation has established many ceremonies, customs and traditions around this event.
In this study, wedding ceremonies performed in Şebinkarahisar District of Giresun province will be examined and analyzed in terms of function, content and historical dimension. The data of the study was compiled through participatory observation and interview. A pre-prepared question form was used during the intreviews and the answers given by the participants were reported. In addition, written sources were used in the research.
