Tradition is one of the most discussed topics today. Undoubtedly, the case of modernization is the basis of the discussion of tradition. Ayvazoğlu says tradition is one of the natural functions of the tradition, after defining the tradition as a culture's self-preservation reflex and the power to maintain its existence with a constant consciousness of renewal, and the health of a culture should be measured by the degree of its resistance to what is presented as modernity and innovation (Ayvazoğlu 2000: 7). In this context, it can be said that Veyisoğlu's poems are the current continuation of Turkish folk poetry tradition in modern style. Born in Erzincan in 1951, Veyisoğlu continued his poetry writing work, which he started in high school, until today, and met with readers through social media. With a selection made from Veyisoğlu's poems, one hundred and twenty poems were taken as the basis of our analysis, and an examination and evaluation was made under eighteen main titles. Although his poems are original, they bear traces of previous poets such as Abdurrahim Karakoç, Ali Akbaş, Erdem Bayazıt and his fellow countryman Metin Tombul. It is mainly in the shape features of folk poetry; He tried to cover all aspects of human, national and spiritual values and current themes with his poems (using plain language, syllabic meter, quatrain, rhyme pattern, metaphors and rhetoric), even if a little in free verse style. The poet carried the tradition to the present in his poems and opened the door to the future. His poems that he started to publish on social media caused him to be known, attracted attention and praised. The poet, who succeeded in developing an original discourse, did not imitate his poems, but managed to be original. In thematic review; While love, affection, national feelings, love of homeland, sense of religion and spirituality, hope / despair, longing are intensely processed; It has been observed that the themes of taking shelter in dreams, reproach, real life, corruption, social disruptions and lies, expatriate, advice, separation, poverty and death are less in number. Many individual themes, especially love, and some social themes formed the texture of the poem. This study was carried out with the aim of recognizing the poet Veyisoğlu and his poems, who created his own style with his free, objective and comfortable discourse, dominating the current realities of the society and the country.
