Abstract

Abstract
In this study, the determination of binder based on Superpave method considering the weather condition of state of İzmir were investigated. In order to enhance high temperature performance grade (PG) of the binder, two different copolymer namely styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) elastomer and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) plastomer were employed. The physical properties of the original and polymer modified asphalt binders and Superpave-gradated aggregates, which are the main components of hot mix asphalt (HMA), were determined by means of multiple experiments. The optimum content of the original binder was determined by Marshall stability test. The comparison between the results that belong to two different polymer modified binders, it can be said that the mixtures with SBS additives is more suitable for using in flexible pavement roads of İzmir province.
