YÜKSEKÖĞRETİM KURUMLARININ MİSYON BİLDİRİMLERİNİN İNOVASYON TEMELİNDE ANALİZİ

Year 2020, Volume: 22 Issue: 1, 89 - 100, 22.06.2020

Abstract

As one of the leader institutions in development, the role of
universities in this process, have a great importance in institutional, social
and national development. In this context; mission statements, which are the
general expression of the aims of institutions and which determine the
direction of institutional activities, should include innovative concepts.
Therefore, mission statements of the faculties Turkish state and foundation
universities have been examined by identifying and coding the terms about
innovation via MAXQDA 2018 Analytics Pro software. The study aims revealing the
similarities and differences between state and foundation universities by analysing
the context and frequencies of innovative concepts used in the mission
statements comparatively. As a result of the study; quantitative data about the
faculties publishing their mission statements and consequences about the usage
areas of innovative terms, the similarities and differences of state and
foundation universities in terms of the target areas of innovation and the
frequencies of the usage of innovative terms in mission statements have been
obtained. Also it has been determined that there are similar or completely
identical mission statements among the faculties within different universities.
