First Grade Teachers’ Expectations from Preschool Teachers

Abstract

The need for education that had been increasingly demanded throughout the Industrial Revolution should be considered as a whole and coherent from preschool to higher education. Pre-school education, the first formal step in the education life, is becoming gradually widespread. Legislators have been working on new regulations that will make preschool education compulsory in our country. However, there are differences between understandings of pre-schools and primary school education. Therefore, in this study, first grade teachers’ expectations from preschool teachers were analyzed. The results showed that first grade teachers have high expectations from preschool teachers. In this study, whether these expectations are justified will be investigated with support of the literature and suggestions will be made.
