Peer Bullying of 7-14 Year Old Children and Their Proffers of Solution

Abstract

This study aimed to compare the level of peer bullying in children between the ages of seven to fourteen and to determine children proffers of solution on the problem. The study sample included one hundred and forty six children . General Information Questionnaire and Peer Bullying Scala was used in the study. One Way Variance Analysis, Independent Samples T -Test were used as statistical methods. When the difference between groups proves to be expressive, Scheffe Test has been used for determining from which group the difference is stemming from. The findings of this study indicated that in some dimensions peer bullying scores vary depending on the age and gender of the child, number of siblings in the family and family type (p < 0.01, p < 0.05). Proposals for solution have been suggested in accordance with the results obtained in the study. To prevent peer bullying preventing programs must be developed in school. While this programs are preparing in general school and must be considered. The teachers should explain and debate with all dimensions of peer bullying in classroom to students.
