The Analysis of Biology Students’ Studying Habits in Science and Education Faculties in Terms of Different Variables

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine studying habits of students of Kazım Karabekir Education Faculty and Science Faculty Biology Departments, accordding to various factors. “Study habits and Attitudes Inventory” was applied to 321 students from Education Faculty, Department of Biology Teaching and Science Faculty Biology Departments. Obtained data were analyzed for arithmetic mean, standard deviation and t scores. A meaningful differentiation between motivation, pre-and post-lesson preparation, study methods and total sub-dimensions in clusters of sex and grade, was found. In faculty level, however, no difference was found except pre- and post-lesson preparation and time management abilities. Additionally, no differentiation in any dimensions between students of different education forms. In light of our findings and literature, positive directioned meaningful relations are probable, concerning dimensions and sub-dimensions of students’ study habits.
