An Analysis of Multiple Intelligence Domains of 5th Grade Students Attending Different Primary Schools
Abstract
This study was conducted in order to assess the multiple intelligence domains of 5th grade students attending different primary schools, and to determine if gender of students attending different primary schools has a significant effect on their multiple intelligence domains. The study sample consisted of 225 fifth grade students in total of which 108 students were from primary regional boarding schools in Ankara and 117 students were from primary schools in district centers of the same city. In order to obtain some demographic information about students themselves, ‘A General Information Form’, and to identify students’ multiple intelligence domains ‘Multiple Intelligence Domains Self Assessment Scale’ developed by Seber (2001) were used in the study. To determine if gender of the 5th grade students attending different primary schools had a significant effect on their scores on Multiple Intelligence Domains Self Assessment scale, a two-way analysis of variance was used. Results indicated that type of the institution did not produce any significant difference in multiple intelligence domains, however, the effect of gender on physical-sensation kinetic, musical- rhythmic and interpersonal-social intelligence scores, and the effect of type of institution*gender interaction on nature intelligence were found to be statistically significant
