Professıonal Self-Respects Of The Pre-School Teacher Candidates

Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the professional self-perceptions of the pre-school teacher candidates in terms of the variables, which are type of graduated high school, the order of preference of the higher education program, class level, whether there exists a teacher in the family. The research was carried out on 212 schoolgirls who are third-year and fourth-year students and study at the Department of Preschool Teacher Education of the Faculty of Education in Gazi University, Middle East Technical University, Ankara University and Hacettepe University in Ankara. To evaluate the professional self-perceptions, "The Scale of Professional Self-Respect” developed by Aricak (1999) was applied. Information about the variables in question regarding students was obtained by “Personal Information Form”. In the analysis of the data, t-test and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used. According to the results of the research, it was found that type of graduated high school, the order of preference of the higher education program, class level and whether there exists a teacher in the family had not cause any statistically significant difference on the scores obtained from The Scale of Professional Self-Respect.
