Opinions of Primary Education Teachers on Global Warming

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine opinion of primary education teachers on global warming and related climate changes. Study group was formed from 123 teachers from different branches. A survey which had 36 items was used for data obtaining. Numerical data obtained were evaluated with SPSS 12.0. Arithmetical mean and percent values are used in statistical estimations. The results show that teachers have quite some information on global warming. However, teachers need to know more about the subject to achieve an effective teaching on the subject. In order to advance to a better consciousness of primary education students on global warming, which threatens human life stronger day by day, environmental education must be given utmost importance starting from primary education.
