A Research on Students’ Learning Styles and Their Attitudes toward Science and Technology

Abstract

This descriptive research which analyzes the relationship between learning styles and attitudes toward the science and technology course was conducted with 444 primary school students in Istanbul. “The Learning Styles Inventory” developed by Grasha (1996) and “The Attitude Scale of the Science and Technology Course” developed by Nuhoğlu (2008) were administered. Data on students’ learning styles were analyzed through frequencies (f) and percentages (%). Chi-square test, t test and one-way analysis of variance were also used. According to the results of the study, it was found out that there was a significant difference between students’ learning styles and their gender (p < 0.05), but there was not a significant difference between students’ attitudes and their gender. Moreover, it was found out that there was no relationship between students’ learning styles and their attitudes toward the science and technology course.
