Öğretmen Adaylarının Bilgi Uçurma Tutumları

Year 2019, , 97 - 115, 31.01.2019

Abstract

Whistleblowing Attitudes of Teacher Candidates

Year 2019, , 97 - 115, 31.01.2019
https://doi.org/10.30831/akukeg.396497

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the
whistleblowing attitudes of prospective teachers about an ethical problem they
may encounter in their professional lives and the differences in attitudes
based on gender, seniority and program. By employing survey method, the data
were collected from 377 education faculty students using the tool developed in
the research. According to findings, even if the ethical problem is considered
as serious by the prospective teachers, they may not attempt to solve it, that
the internal whistleblowing attitudes are significantly higher than the external
whistleblowing attitudes, they prefer to solve the ethical problem in person
instead of whistleblowing, they prefer traditional whistleblowing ways instead
of social media, they do not need to hide their identities when whistleblowing
through social media, the whistleblowing attitudes do not differ according to
the gender and seniority but according to the program. It has been proposed to
investigate the causes of the results, to include information on whistleblowing
in teacher education, and to make legal arrangements to prevent the negative
consequences of whistleblowing.
