Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate whether perceived job insecurity of healthcare workers has an effect on presenteeism and whether perceived stress plays a mediating role in this effect. The study was designed with quantitative research method and the data were collected through questionnaire technique in June and July 2023. A questionnaire form consisting of Job Insecurity, Presenteeism, Perceived Stress scales was used in the study. The sample consists of 183 healthcare workers in private hospitals operating in Kocaeli, Turkey. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, correlation, regression, IBM Spss Process Macro and descriptive statistical methods were used to analyze the data. According to the findings, job insecurity contributes positively in explaining the presenteeism effect. At the same time, perceived stress has a mediating effect on the effect of job insecurity and presenteeism. The theoretical and practical contributions of the study were discussed and suggestions were made for future research.
