Abstract

Unemployment and its economic, social and psychological affects can cause individuals to be excluded from society. Therefore, there is a strong relationship between unemployment and social exclusion. The main purpose of this study is to examine the different dimensions and causes of social exclusion experienced by unemployed individuals in the context of the relationship between unemployment and social exclusion. From this point of view, this study employed a qualitative method and a field study. In line with the purpose of the study, in-depth interviews were conducted with ten people using a semi-structured interview form consisting of open-ended questions. Some findings of the research can be expressed as follows: Unemployed individuals are alienated from society by not being able to participate in basic sociocultural activities due to economic deprivation; experience social integration problems because they cannot meet their psychosocial needs such as social participation and social status; they feel excluded because of their perception of social integration and unemployment affects relatively educated individuals deeply and increases the risk of exclusion.

Türkiye’de İşsizlik ve Sosyal Dışlanma İlişkisi: Yozgat İlinde Bir Alan Araştırması
