Abstract

The Relationship between Renewable Energy, Tourism and Economic Growth in E7 Countries

Year 2025, Volume: 9 Issue: 1, 113 - 130, 30.01.2025

Abstract

The relationship between renewable energy, tourism and economic growth in E7 countries is of great importance in line with sustainable development goals. The use of renewable energy sources contributes to economic growth by reducing energy dependency while increasing environmental sustainability. The tourism sector, on the other hand, creates an important source of income by promoting natural beauties and clean energy. E7 countries can support their economic growth through renewable energy investments and the development of the tourism sector. The synergy between these sectors is of strategic importance to increase economic prosperity and reduce environmental impacts. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between renewable energy, tourism and economic growth in E7 countries. For this purpose, annual data for the period 1995-2019 were tested with panel data analysis. According to the analysis results, a long-term relationship was determined between the variables used in the analysis for the E7 countries. In the panel causality analysis, a bidirectional causality relationship was detected between all variables. It is important that renewable energy, tourism and economic growth factors support each other in achieving sustainable development goals. According to the study results, it is recommended that strategies to achieve sustainable development and economic growth goals are produced by E7 countries.
