Abstract

Tarihi süreçler içerisinde 20. yy, teknolojik devrimin yaşandığı dönem olarak bilinmektedir. Yaşanılan teknolojik gelişim, tüm alanları etkisi altına almış, her alana homojenlik kazandırmıştır.

The Science of the Exception in Art: The Place of Pataphysics in Postmodern Creational Processes

Year 2026, Volume: 10 Issue: 1 , 13 - 32 , 30.03.2026

Abstract

The 20th century is known as the period in which the technological revolution took place in historical processes. The technological development experienced has affected all fields and brought homogeneity to every field. Since the emergence of interdisciplinary relations, the field of art has also received its share from technology and has undergone a transformation. Concepts such as matter, existence, and existence, which have been a subject of interest for a long time and concern natural sciences, have become the focus of artists as well as scientists. The mysterious state of matter, which has been addressed in many fields, has been fragmented by artists and postmodernism has created a new formation from this fragmentation. Postmodernism, which is a game played with crumbs for some, represents a period that pushes the boundaries of creativity. Science, which played an active role in this period, has merged with postmodernism and created a new art form called pataphysics. This art form refers to the laws of quantum, atom, and entropy, and includes all the questions made on these under its own roof. In this article, the existence of pataphysics in the postmodern period, its field, and theories and artists it refers to are emphasized, while examples of current studies accepted as pataphysics are shown.
