Hydrogen Production from Aluminum Hydrolysis with Different Solutions

Year 2024, , 16 - 27, 30.04.2024

Abstract

Today, fossil fuels are widely used as an energy source. The use of fossil fuels has devastating effects on the environment. Therefore, the use of clean and renewable energy sources is very important for our nature. When hydrogen is used as an energy source, clean by-products such as water don’t pollute the environment. Therefore, it is in the category of clean and renewable energy source. In this study, hydrogen production was carried out by hydrolysis of aluminum powders using different solutions. In the study, water, KOH, Mg(OH)2 and NaOH solutions, 35-65°C temperature range, 0% to 15% NaCl addition, 5 to 15 h aluminum milling time were investigated. Microstructures of the milled powders were characterized by SEM. Looking at the results, it was observed that the hydrogen production rate increased as the alkali solution concentration, temperature, NaCl addition rate and milling time increased. The best hydrogen production was seen at 65oC, 15% NaCl, 15 h milling time and 1 M NaOH solution.

Farklı Çözeltiler ile Alüminyum Hidrolizinden Hidrojen Üretimi

Year 2024, , 16 - 27, 30.04.2024
