Evaluation of Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels in the Patients With Type2 Diabetes Mellitus and Its Relationship with HbA1c and Body Mass Index

Abstract

Aim: Aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) values and
HbA1c and body mass index (BMI).
Method: 25(OH)D, BMI and HbA1c values were evaluated
in a diabetic population. Their relationship was evaluated
with spearman corelation analysis.
Results: Vitamin D hypovitaminosis was found in %78 of
patients. There was not found a significant corelation between vitamin D and HbA1c, BMI values.
Discussion: Large randomized controlled studies are needed to evaluate the relationship between DM and vitamin D.

Abstract

Amaç:

Diyabetes Mellitus’lu hastalarda 25-Hidroksivitamin D (25(OH)D) düzeyleri ile HbA1c, Vücut kitle indeksi (VKİ) arasındaki ilişkiyi araştırmaktır.

Metod:

Diyabetik hastalarda vitamin D düzeyleri ile birlikte HbA1c düzeylerine ve VKİ’ ne bakıldı. Aralarındaki ilişkiyi değerlendirmek için spearman korelasyon testi uygulandı.

Sonuç:

Vitamin D hipovitaminozu hastaların %78’ inde bulundu. Vitamin D düzeyleri ile HbA1c ve VKİ değerleri arasında anlamlı bir ilişkiye rastlanmadı.

Tartışma:

Vitamin D, DM ilişkisini araştırmak için geniş randomize kontrollü çalışmalara ihtiyaç vardır.
