Hipertansiyon sistolik kan basıncının 140 mm Hg, ve/veya diyastolik kan basıncının 90 mm Hg’nın üzerinde olmasıyla giden hastalıktır. Dünya’da en önde gelen ölüm nedenidir. Yüksek prevelansı nedeniyle birinci basamakta en sık karşılaşılan hastalıklardandır.
