Ortodontik Mini Vidalar ile İlgili Youtube Videolarının İçeriklerinin Değerlendirilmesi

Year 2025, Volume: 9 Issue: 3, 290 - 298, 30.09.2025

Abstract

Evaluation of The Content of YouTube Videos Related to Orthodontic Mini Screws

Year 2025, Volume: 9 Issue: 3, 290 - 298, 30.09.2025
https://doi.org/10.46237/amusbfd.1492494

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the reliability and quality of the content of videos published on YouTube about orthodontic mini screws.
Method: Videos were searched on YouTube using the keywords of “temporary anchorage devices” in the Google Trends application. From the first 75 results, after discarding the ones immediately deemed insufficient, 23 videos were selected for analysis. To classify the video content as high or low, a scoring system formed of 7 parameters was used. For the global evaluation of the video quality, the video information and quality index (VIQI) was applied.
Results: The average number of views for the videos evaluated was 25.689 (±37.101), the average number of likes was 208.7 (±391.6), the average number of comments was 52.6 (±131.2), the average video length (minutes) was 2.85 (±3.20), the average number of days since the video was uploaded was 1.561 (±1.146), the average engagement index was 0.89 (±1.19), and the average view rate was 2.133 (±3.140). The quality of the videos, as evaluated by the VIQI index, was found to be an average of 10.74 (±4.85).
Conclusion: A wide range of information about orthodontic mini screws is available on YouTube. Orthodontists should be aware of the information available on the internet and direct their patients to appropriate and professional sources where they can obtain accurate and up-to-date information to prevent them from receiving incorrect or incomplete information.
