Abstract

Aim: Shaken Baby Syndrome can lead to brain damage such as delayed
psychomotor development, learning, speech difficulties, physical and mental
impairments. The purpose of our work is to measure knowledge about the shaken
baby syndrome.

Material and
Methods:
he study included 170 female and 16
male parents between January-March 2016. The level of knowledge about parents'
methods of soothing babies and shaken infant syndrome was evaluated by a
questionnaire with 32 questions. Cronbach's Alpha coefficient was 85% for the
reliability analysis for the questions, except for the nominal questions of the
questionnaire used.

Results: 8.6% (n = 16) of the study were performed with father, 91.4% with
mother (n = 170) in total 186 cases. The rate of parents having knowledge of
the shaken baby syndrome was determined to be 16%. 87.6% of the respondents
answered yes to the question "Is there any harm in shaking the
babies?", There was a statistically significant difference (p = 0,019) in
the question "Is the education of the mother shaking the baby and the baby
having any harm?" When comparing the educational status of the mother with
the situation of the baby not standing, the difference was significant (p =
0.001). Parents with male and female babies were found to be significantly
different for the same comparison (p = 0.045).

Discussion and
Conclusion:
The parents' knowledge of the
shaken baby syndrome and the methods of shooting on babies was found to be
inadequate. Education about the shaken baby syndrome and methods of shooting
babies has found significant consequences for the prevention of shaken baby
syndrome.

Ailelerin Sarsılmış Bebek Sendromu Hakkında Bilgi Düzeyi

Year 2018, , 163 - 172, 26.09.2018

Abstract

Amaç: Sarsılmış Bebek Sendromu psikomotor gelişimin
gecikmesi, öğrenme, konuşma zorlukları, fiziksel, zihinsel bozukluklar gibi
beyin hasarlarına yol açabilir, Çalışmamızın amacı ailelerin sarsılmış bebek
sendromunu hakkında bilgilerini ölçmektir.

Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışma Ocak-Mart 2016 tarihleri
arasında 170 kadın 16 erkek ebeveyni içermektedir. Ebeveynlerin bebeklerini
avutma yöntemleri ve sarsılmış bebek sendromun hakkındaki bilgi düzeyi 32
soruluk olan anket ile değerlendirildi. Kullanılan anketin nominal soruları
dışındaki, sorular için güvenilirlik analizi Cronbach's Alpha katsayısı % 85
olarak bulundu.

Bulgular: Çalışma %8,6'sı (n=16) baba,
%91,4'ü anne (
n=170) toplam 186 olgu
p=0,045).

Tartışma ve Sonuç: Sarsılmış bebek
sendromu ve bebeklerini avutma yöntemleri konusunda ebeveynlerin bilgileri
yetersiz olduğu görüldü.  Sarsılmış bebek
sendromu hakkında ve bebekleri avutma yöntemleri konusunda
yapılacak
eğitimin sarsılmış bebek sendromu önlenmesi açısından önemli sonuçlar vereceği
bulundu.
