CHARLES SANDERS PEIRCE’ÜN DİN FELSEFESİ

Öz

Charles Sanders Peirce, Tanrı’nın varlığı yerine Tanrı’nın gerçekliği savını öne sürer. Düşünür, gerçekliğin var olmayı (mevcudiyeti) kapsayan daha geniş bir kavram olduğunu belirtir. Tanrı insanın yanındadır ve din insan deneyiminden türeyen bir inanış bütünlüğüdür. Dinin kurumsallaşması (kilise teşkilatı gibi) canlı, dinamik dine zarar vermekte, bilim ile dinin bütünlüğüne ve tamamlayıcılığına sekte vurmaktadır. Aslında bilim ile din bir elmanın iki yarısı gibi hayatın birbirini tamamlayan iki yaşamsal unsurlarıdır. Bilim, mütevazı bir araştırma faaliyetidir ve sınırlı sayıda örneklem ile genellemeler yaparak geçici bilgi verir. Pozitivistlerin, bilimi her şeyin ölçütü yapmaları ve duyu sınırlarının dışında kalan konuları yok saymaları yanlıştır. Tanrı, mucize, ahiret, ruh gibi dini kavramlar deneysel araştırmalara konu olamaz. Bilim bir mucizeyi ispatlayamaz veya çürütemez. Bu makale Peirce’ün din felsefene dair görüşlerini makale formatında ele almayı amaçlamaktadır. Charles Sanders Peirce argues for God's reality instead of God's existence. He states that reality is a broader concept that encompasses being (existence). God is with man and religion is a totality of beliefs derived from human experience. The institutionalization of religion (such as church organization) harms the living, dynamic religion and undermines the unity and complementarity of science and religion. In fact, science and religion are like two halves of the same apple, two vital elements of life that complement each other. Science is a modest research activity and provides temporary information by making generalizations with a limited number of samples. It is wrong for positivists to make science the criterion for everything and to ignore matters beyond the limits of the senses. Religious concepts such as God, miracles, the afterlife and the soul cannot be the subject of empirical research. Science cannot prove or disprove a miracle. This article aims to discuss Peirce's views on the philosophy of religion in an essay format.
