During the excavations undertakcn by Hovvard Crosby Butler from 1910 to 1914, a numbcr of ancient sculptures was found al Sardis.
Somc of them are wcll published1 but others are known orıly through inadequatc photographs and bricf allusions in Butler’s preliminary rcports. 2 Even prior to the resumption of thc cxcavations by the Harvard-Cornell-Amcrican Schools ofOriental Research Expcdition in 1958, the soil of Sardis brought forth through chance fıncls many archi- tectural and sculptural fragments. Thcsc have becn brought to the Manisa Muscum. We publish herewith two ımportant finds ol' rcccnt years as well as an intcrcsting piecc found by Butler.
