A Theoretical Investigation about the Relationship of Economic Growth and Research & Development (R&D) Expenditure
Abstract
In the
economics literature, it has been investigated for a long time whether
technology and Research and Development (R&D) activities have an effect on
economic growth. Technological innovations contribute to the economic growth by
increasing productivity in the production process. One of the most important
factors in technological innovations are R&D activities. Today, many
economists point out the differences of R & D activities and technological
knowledge as the reason of differences in countries economic levels. In this
study, the opinions of some great economists about R&D and technology in
the economic literature, associated economic growth models as Pre Endogenous
Growth Model period and Endogenous Growth Models period and R&D issues were
examined under headings.
