Abstract

Bu araştı rmada, kükürt ilavesi ve inkübasyon süresinin bitki yeti ştirme ortamı olarak peatin bazı kimyasal özellikleri üzerine etkisi araştı nlmıştı r. Çalışmada, halihazırda ülkemide en fazla satılan yerli peat olan Bolu-Yeniça ğa peati kullanı lmıştır. Peate değişik dozlarda 0, 0.5, 1.0 ve 2.0 kg/m kükürt ilave edilmi ş ve dört farkl ı inkübasyon periyodu süresince 1, 2, 4 ve 8 hafta peatte meydana gelen baz ı kimyasal değişimler saptanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, bitki yeti ştirme ortamı olarak yüksek pH ya sahip olan Bolu-Yeniça ğa peatinin, değişik dozlardaki kükürt ilavesi ve inkübasyon süreleri sonucunda arzu edilen pH derecelerine getirilebilece ği belirlenmiştir. Ilave edilen kükürt miktanna bağlı olarak, pH nı n düşmesi sonucunda genel olarak, ba ğımsız NH4-N nıiktannda azalma, NO3-N u, P, Fe, Mn ve Cu miktar ı nda bir artış olduğu, bunun yanında inkübasyon esnas ı nda toplam azot içeri ğinde dikkate değer bir azalma olduğu saptanmıştır.

THE EFFECTS OF SULPHUR ADDITION AND INCUBATION PERIOD ON SOME CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF PEAT AS PLANT GROWTH MEDIUM

Abstract

In this research, the effects of sulphur addition and incubation period on some chemical properties of peat as plant growth medium were investigated. Native peat material, taken from Bolu-Yeniçaa which has currently been mostly consumed was used in this study. Four rates of sulphur 0, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 kg/m were added to peat at four incubation periods I, 2, 4 and 8 weeks . At the end of the each incubation period, the changes in some chemical properties were determined. As a result, sulphur addition and incubation periods could impose desirable pH ranges in Bolu-Yeniça ğa peat which had higher pH than required. Decreasing in pH caused by the sulphur doses, generally resulted in a decrease in NH4-N content but an increase in NO3-N, P, Fe, Mn and Cu contents of peat samples. Nevertheless, it was observed that, total-N content of peat decreased considerably during the incubation periods.
