The Effect of Sediment on Trophic Level of Sakaryabaşı West Pond

Abstract

This investigation was carried out in West Pond from which water was supplied to the Sakaryaba şı Fish Culture and Research Station. Water and sediment samples were taken from the station determined in the West Pond in 2000 july, october , 2001 january, april . Total filtrable phosphorus TFP , total filtrable orhtophosphate TFO , iron concentrations and pH values were measured in pond water, overlying water which was sampled from just over sediment and porewater obtained from sediment samples. Also, water content % , organic content % , total phosphorus and total iron concentrations and pH values were determined in sediment. During the period of this study, it was found that overlying water TFP:38,12-107,21 pg/L; TF0:31,45-62,81pg/L and porewater TFP: 65,09- 157,66pg/L;TF0:41,87-123,95pg/L phosphorus fractions were higher than those pond water phosphorus fractions TFP:13,92-41,76pg/L;TF0:15,24-27,15pg/L , this indicates the influence of sediment on pond's trophic level. In porewater when the ratio of iron to phosphorus in molar is found to be lower than 1,8 this indicates that iron never effects the release of phosphorus from sediment. Also considering observed pH values, pH does not have a role on the release of phosphorus from sediment.

Sakaryabaşı Batı Göleti'nin Besin Düzeyine Sedimentin Etkisi

Abstract

Bu ara şt ı rma Sakaryabaşı -Çifteler Bal ı k Üretim ve Araşt ı rma İ stasyonu'nun su ihtiyac ı n ı karşı layan Bat ı Göleti'nde yürütülmü ştür. Gölette belirlenen bir istasyondan 2000 y ı l ı n ı n temmuz ve ekim aylar ı nda, 2001 y ı l ı n ı n ocak ve nisan aylar ı nda su ve sediment örnekleri al ı nm ışt ı r. Gölet suyunda, sedimentin hemen üst bölümündeki suda ve sediment örneklerinden elde edilen sediment gözenek suyunda toplam filtre edilebilir fosfor TFF , toplam filtre edilebilir ortofosfat TFO , demir konsantrasyonlar ı ve pH değ erleri belirlenmi ştir. Ayr ı ca gölet sedimentinin su içeri ğ i % , organik madde düzeyi % , toplam fosfor ve toplam demir miktarlar ı ile pH değerleri saptanm ışt ı r. Araşt ı rma süresince sedimentin hemen üst bölümündeki suda TFF:38,12-107,21pg/L; TF0:31,45-62,81pg/L ve sediment gözenek suyunda TFF: 65,09-157,66pg/L;TF0:41,87-123,95pg/L fosfor fraksiyonlar ı n ı n gölet suyu fosfor fraksiyonlar ı ndan TFF:13,92- 41,76pg/L;TF0:15,24-27,15pg/L yüksek bulunmas ı , sedimentin göletin besin seviyesini etkiledi ğini ortaya koymu ştur. Sediment gözenek suyunda demirin fosfora oran ı n ı n molar olarak 1.8'den dü şük bulunmas ı , demirin sedimentten fosforun sal ı n ı m ı n ı engelleyemediğini, pH'ya ili şkin bulgular ise, pH'n ı n sedimentten fosforun sal ı n ı m ı nda bir rol oynamad ığı n ı göstermektedir.
