Comparison of the treatment results of physical therapy and manipulation in back pain due to discopathy

Abstract

In this study, 20 cases with low back pain due to discopathy were treated by physical therapy in the form of infrared, ultrasound and diadinamic current for 15 sessions. Rotitional manipulation without anesthesia was performed on another group of 20 patients with intervals of 5.1+ 0.3 days for 4.3 + 0.2 sessions. Patients were compared and evaluated before and after the treatment with visual analog scale for the severity of pain, schoeber test straigt leg raising test, clinical findings, functional status and the efficacy of the treatment acording to both the patient and the physician. As a results, the decrease in the sevirity of pain after the manipulation therapy was more than that was found after the physical thraphy. The difference in the increase of pain between the two groups was statistically significant. Finally the difference in the values of the other variables between the two compared grups was not found to be statistically significant.

Diskopatiye bağlı ağrılı bel sendromlarında fizyoterapi ve manipülasyon ile tedavi sonuçlarının karşılaştırılması

Öz

Diskopatiye bağlı bel ve bacak ağrılı 20 vakaya fizyoterapi olarak 15 seans İnfraruj, Ultrason ve Diadinamik akımlar ve 20 vakaya ortalama 5.1+ 0.3 gün aralıklarla 3.3 + 0.2 seans anestesisiz rotasyonel manipülasyon uygulandı. Vakalar tedavi öncesi ve sonrası visüel analog sakala ile ağrı şiddeti, schober testi, düz bacak kaldırma testi, lomber bölgede palpasyon ile muayene bulguları, fonksiyonel durum, hasta ve hekime göre tedavi sonuçları yönünen değerlendirilerek karşılaştırıldı. İki grup arasında ağrı şiddetinde azalma yönünden farklılık istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulundu (P 0.01). Manipülasyon ile tedavi sonunda ağrı şiddetinde azalma fizyoterapiye oranla daha fazla idi. İki grup arasında karşılaştırılan diğer faktörler yönünden istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmadı.
