False aneurysm of the profunda femoris artery resulting from internal fixation (CHS-Plate) of a femoral neck fracture

Abstract

A case of false aneurysm of the profunda femoris artery caused by an excessively long screw used to fix a CHS-plate to the neck of the femur is presented. The aneurysm did not become symptomatic until 20 days after insertion of the screw if painful pulsating mass appears in the upper part of the thigh after an operation about the hip in which drills ond screw were used, one should suspect a false aneurysm.
