Experimental evaluation of the biomechanics of the knee cruciate ligaments

Abstract

This study was done to investigate the biomechanical responses of (ACL) and (PCL) of knee against compulsions of valgus, varus, extension flexion, internal and external rotations. Participations of ACL and PCL on stabIity of the knee were investigated and the results obtained were presented there.
An extension occured on ACL when tibia was pulled in the direction of front side, whereas on PCL when tibia was pushed in the direction of back side. If was observed that ACL is stretched in internal and external rotation of the tibia during flexion and extension, PCL is stretched only during extantion, and both ACL and PCL are strecthed during hyperextantion, which higher on PCL. Also stretchings were observed in varus on ACL, in varus-val- gus on PCL. Rupture on ACL occured on the part of tibia, where as on PCL occured on the part of femur. It was concluded that ACL on the knee prevents sliding to the front of tibia resists to compulsions of rotational and varus in the case of extension and that PCL participates the stabilities of varus and valgus, stretches highly in hyperextension, and plays a major role in the rotational stability in extension.

Dizin anterior ve posterior cruciate ligamentlerinin biomekaniğinin deneysel incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışma, dizde ACL ve PCL’nin valgus, varus, extansion, flexion, iç ve dış rotasyon zorlamalarına karşı verdiği biomekanik cevapları aydınlatmak için yapılmıştır. ACL ve PCL’in dizdeki stabiliteye iştirakleri incelenmiş ve sonuçları sunulmuştur.
ACL’de tibianın öne doğru çekilmesinde, PCL’de ise tibianın arkaya doğru itilmesi esnasmda gerilme ortaya çıkmıştır. Plexion ve extansionda tibianın iç dış rotasyonlarında ACL’nin, extansionda iç ve dış rotasyonda ise PCL’nin de gerildiği, hiperextansionda PCL’de daha fazla olmak üzere, her iki bağda da gerilme olduğu müşahade edilmiştir. Ayrıca varusda ACL’de, varus-valgusda PCL’de gerilme gözlenmiştir. ACL’de kopma tibia tarafından, PCL’de ise femur tarafından olmuştur. Dizde ACL’nin tibianın öne kaymasını engellediği, Rexionextansion durumlarında rotasyonel ve dizin varus zorlamasına karşı koyduğu, PCL’nin ise varus vc valgus stabilitesine iştirak ettiği, hiperextansionda çok gerildiği ve extansionda rotasyonel stabilitede mühim rol oynadığı sonucuna varılmıştır.
