Experimental evaluation of the biomechanics of the popliteus muscle

Abstract

In this study, after attaching strain-gauge to the femoral side of the musculus popliteus, various direction had been loaded and results were evaluated biomechanicaly. In varus loading, the M. popliteus had been strained, moreover in external rotation loading much more strain had been observed. In valgus, internal rotation and flexion loading, relaxation had been observed on muscle. Also, when the tibia was pulled backward in hyperflexion, strain had been occured on muscle.

Abstract

Bu ça1ışmada musculus popliteusun femoral yapışma yerine strain gauge yapıştırılarak çeşitli yönlere doğru yüklenmiş ve ortaya çıkan biomekanik cevaplar araştırılmıştır. M. popliteus dizin varusa yüklenmesinde gerilmiş, bununla birlikte dış rotasyon yüklenmesinde de gerilme daha çok olmuştur. Valgus, iç rotasyon ve fleksiyonda adalede büzülme görülmüştür. Hiperfleksiyonda tibia geri doğru çekilince adalede gerilme görülmüştür. Musculus popliteus dizin varus ve dış rotasyon stabilitesinde aktif rol oynadığı, ligamentum cruciatum posteriora aktif destek verdiği ve lateral meniscusu posteriordan koruduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
