What should be translated and its importance to convey the image of Jerusalem through the eyes of writers

Abstract

Translation plays a vital role and has great importance in melting mental barriers between the different cultures and in analysing and knowing the opinion of the other. Translation is a weapon that reveals (exposes) and conveys the output of some deceitful minds and help in refuting some views that contradict the truth. It is considered the safe bridge that conveys constant truths to different languages.

Translating what is written by the West enables us to know what ideas they seek to spread and propagate, whether they admit (state) facts or contradict the reality for their whims. “who acquires the language of a community, will be safe from their deceit”. It is equally important to translate what Arab writers publish into the different languages and to work on spreading and publishing their works in order to correct wrong concepts which the usurper enemy strives to emphasize. This translation should not be left to translators from the west to ensure the correctness and the fidelity of translation.

Many books have been written about the beloved Jerusalem written by writers from the East and the West and the competed in their wording.

The current paper sheds light on Jerusalem as seen through the eyes of contemporary authors , represented in the works of Dr Mohsen Saleh and his articles, particularly his book“The Suffering of Jerusalem and the Sacred Places(sanctities)under the Israeli Occupation “ from the series”Am I Not a Human Being”.

The book makes clear that the sufferings of Jerusalem and the sacred places in Palestine affect all fields of life. After all, the work is an encyclopedia that includes all kinds of aggression that Jerusalem and the Palestinians are subject to. It also documents what the Israeli authorities perpetrate in their Judaization and displacement works.

 This paper aims to convey a message that steadfastness of Jerusalemites and their attachment to their land should find support and backing up from those that stand by their just cause. They all should go beyond the language of slogans and hopes to that of programs and deeds to be carried out in the world of reality.
