ESKİ MEZOPOTAMYA BİLGELİK EDEBİYATINDA İDEAL ERKEKLİK: ŠURUPPAK’IN TALİMATLARI ÜZERİNE BİR İNCELEME

Abstract

Eski Mezopotamya bilgelik edebiyatının talimat türünde bilinen en eski tarihli örneği olan Šuruppak’ın Talimatları, farklı tarihsel dönemlere ait çeşitli versiyonlar ve bu versiyonlara ait çok sayıda nüsha aracılığıyla günümüze ulaşmıştır. Söz konusu nüshalar, hem versiyonlar arasında talimatları veren Šuruppak’lı baba ile talimatın muhatabı olan oğlun toplumsal statülerinde zamanla meydana gelen değişiklikleri hem de içerikte yer alan öğretilerin büyük ölçüde korunduğunu göstermektedir. Metnin içeriğinde yer alan öğretilerdeki bu süreklilik, Eski Mezopotamya toplumunda ideal erkek kimliğinin tarihsel koşullardan ve toplumsal statü farklılıklarından bağımsız olarak belirli değerler ve davranış kalıpları çerçevesinde şekillendiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Šuruppak’ın Talimatları aracılığıyla Eski Mezopotamya’da erkekliğe toplum tarafından atfedilen nitelikler ve bu niteliklerle ilişkili davranış kalıpları ve toplumsal beklentiler incelenmiştir.
