Abstract

Childhood memories are a topic encountered in many contexts. In scientific fields such as literature, history, anthropology, sociology, sociolinguistics, education, organizational studies, human development, and psychology, childhood memories can serve as a central subject depending on the chosen perspective. Especially when individuals move away from their childhood city, this topic often becomes more prominent in relation to pleasant experiences, nostalgia, trauma, and similar phenomena. In this context, the aim of this study is to identify the unforgettable childhood memories of Siverek (Sêwregi, Sêrek, Sûki) through the recollections of several individuals. The study uses a qualitative method, with material consisting of interviews with 18 individuals from Siverek who now live in various European countries, some metropolitan cities, and Siverek itself. Through socio-biographical analysis, the study identifies the similarities and differences among the unforgettable childhood moments in Siverek. Related phenomena such as pleasant experiences, nostalgia, and trauma are also examined. The results, relevant to disciplines such as history, sociology, psychology, pedagogy, health, culture, and geography, contribute to the existing knowledge about the unforgettable childhood memories of individuals from Siverek, about Siverek as a city, and about unforgettable childhood memories from cities and regions similar to Siverek.

Year 2025, Issue: 20, 1 - 15, 30.09.2025
https://doi.org/10.35859/artuklukurdology.1719813
