The Analyse of The in-Game Statistics of the 3x3 Basketball and 5v5 Basketball

Abstract

3x3 is one of the new sports branches that take place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games for the first time. 3x3, which is developing and growing day by day, continue to increase after the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. In addition to resembling 5v5 basketball in many ways, there are differences between the branches in terms of game rules, field sizes and field floor. This article presents certain playing characteristics of 3x3 basketball in relation to shooting at the basket and analyzes it by making comparisons with 5v5 basketball. For this purpose, totally 88 matches were analyzed in the men’s World Basketball Championship (5v5 Basketball) and the World Cup Championship (3x3 Basketball). The research confirms some differences in the efficiency and structure of shooting. It can generally be said that 3x3 basketball players take fewer long-distance shots (behind the 6.75 m line) and take fewer free throws than their counterparts in 5v5 basketball. When shooting from behind the 6.75 m line, 3x3 basketball players are less efficient than their 5v5 basketball counterparts, and similar applies to free throws. The reasons for these differences may entail many factors, including differences in the game rules, the playing conditions on outdoor courts, the weather, different technical and tactical requirements and the characteristics (style) of playing as well as the quality and performance level of basketball players and criteria for the management of matches.

3X3 Basketbol İle 5'e 5 Basketbolun Oyun İçi İstatistiklerinin Analizi

Abstract

3x3, Tokyo 2020 Olimpiyat Oyunları’nda ilk defa yer alan yeni spor branşlarından biridir. Her geçen gün gelişmekte ve büyümekte olan 3x3, Tokyo 2020 Olimpiyat Oyunları sonrasında bu yükseliş trendi artarak devam etmektedir. Birçok yönü ile 5’e 5 basketbola benzemesinin yanında branşlar arasında oyun kuralları, saha boyutları ve saha zemini konularında farklılıklar bulunmaktadır. Bu araştırma, 3x3 basketbolun belirli oyun özelliklerini sunmakta ve 5’e 5 basketbol ile karşılaştırmalar yaparak analiz etmektedir. Bu amaçla Erkekler Dünya Basketbol Şampiyonası (5'e 5 Basketbol) ve Dünya Kupası Şampiyonası’nda (3x3 Basketbol) oynanan toplam 88 maç analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma, şut verimliliği ve yapısındaki bazı farklılıklara odaklanmıştır. Oyuncuların kullanmış oldukları serbest atışlar, 6,75 m çizgisinin dışından ve 6,75 m çizgisinin içinden yapılan atış denemeleri ve isabet oranları incelenmiştir. 3x3 ve 5’e5 basketbol branşında yer alan oyuncuların saha içi şut performansları incelenmiş ve karşılaştırmalar yapılmıştır. Araştırma, 3x3 basketbol oynayan oyuncuların 5'e 5 basketbol oyuncularına göre daha az uzun mesafeli atış (6,75 m çizgisinin dışından) ve daha az serbest atış kullandıklarını göstermektedir. 3x3 oyuncuları 5'e 5 basketbol oyuncularından 6,75 m çizgisinin dışından daha düşük yüzdeli şut atarken, serbest atışlar için de aynı durum geçerlidir. İki branş arasında oluşan farkları; oyun kurallarındaki farklılıklar, açık hava sahalarındaki oyun koşulları, hava durumu, farklı teknik ve taktik gereksinimler ve oyun özellikleri (tarzı) ile basketbolun kalite ve performans seviyesi ve maçların yönetilme kriterleri gibi birçok faktörün etkilediği söylenebilir.
