Erzincan İli Okul Öncesi Dönem Çocuklarda Kiloluluk Prevalansı ve Büyüme ile İlgili Bazı Parametrelerin Sınır Değerleri: Kesitsel Bir Çalışma

Öz

Çalışmanın amacı, Erzincan ili okul öncesi çağı çocuklarda (4-6 yaş arası) fazla kilo (FK) ile obezite prevalansının belirlenmesi ile boy uzunluğu, vücut ağırlığı (VA) ve vücut kitle indeksi (VKİ) referans değerlerinin üretilmesidir. İkinci amaç ise cinsiyete ve yaşa göre boy, VA ve VKİ ile ilgili büyüme eğrilerinin oluşturulmasıdır. Rastgele seçilen sekiz anaokulunda toplam 679 çocuk (363 erkek, 316 kız) değerlendirildi. Veriler, Hastalık Kontrol ve Önleme Merkezleri’ ne (CDC) göre yüzdelik dilimlere ayrılarak kesim noktaları belirlendi (5., 85. ve 95. persentiller) ve sınıflandırıldı. Sınıflamaya göre çocuklarda görülen kiloluluk prevalansı erkeklerde %14.32, kızlarda ise %14.87’ dir. Bu değer cinsiyet farkı gözetmeksizin %14.58’ dir. Kiloluluk yaygınlığı yaş grupları içerisinde en fazla 4 yaş grubu kız çocuklarında görüldü. Çocuklarda boy uzunluğu prevalansı %4.27’ si uzun ve %2.95’ i kısa/bodur olarak bulundu. Uzun boy prevalansı en yüksek 5.5 yaş grubu kızlarda, kısa boy prevalansı ise en yüksek 6 yaş grubu kızlarda görüldü. Çocuklarda genel olarak yüksek ve düşük VA prevalansı %4.12 olarak bulundu. VA prevalansı çocuklar içerisinde en yüksek 5.5 yaş grubu erkeklerde görüldü. Referans değerlerimiz genel olarak CDC’ nin değerleriyle farklılık gösterse de Türk çocukları ve Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (DSÖ) değerleriyle uyumludur. Yaş grubu ve cinsiyete göre oluşturulan referans değerler, okullarda ve aile hekimleri tarafından çocukların büyümelerinin değerlendirilmesi için kullanılabilir.

The Prevalence of Overweight in Preschool Children in Erzincan Province and The Cut-Off Values of Some Growth-Related Parameters: A Cross-Sectional Study

Abstract

The aim of study was to determine the prevalence of overweight (OW) and obesity in preschool children (4-6 years old) in Erzincan province and to establish reference values for height, body weight (BW) and body mass index (BMI). The second objective was to establish growth curves for height, body weight (BW) and body mass index (BMI) by gender and age. A total of 679 children (363 boys, 316 girls) were evaluated in eight randomly selected kindergartens. The data were divided into percentiles according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cut-off points were determined (5th, 85th, and 95th percentiles), and classified. According to the classification, the prevalence of childhood overweight is 14.32% in boys and 14.87% in girls. Regardless of gender, this value is 14.58%. Among age groups, the prevalence of overweight in girls aged 4 years was the highest. The prevalence of height in children was found 4.27% tall and 2.95% short/stunted. The highest prevalence of tall stature was found in girls aged 5.5 years and the highest prevalence of short stature was found in girls aged 6 years. The overall prevalence of high and low BW in children was 4.12%. Among children, the highest prevalence of BW was observed in boys aged 5.5 years. Although our reference values generally differ from those of the CDC, they are compatible with those of Turkish children and the World Health Organization (WHO). The reference values established by age group and gender can be used in schools and by family physicians to assess children's growth.
