Abstract

Although autonomous vehicles promise many potential benefits such as reducing traffic accidents, saving fuel and preventing traffic congestion, there are also some concerns about autonomous vehicle usage. Adoption and widespread usage of autonomous vehicles can be possible by determining the consumers’ concerns and attitude toward autonomous vehicles. To discover the perceived benefits and concerns about autonomous vehicle usage as well as consumers’ attitude toward autonomous vehicles, an online survey was conducted with 290 people in Turkey. 89% of respondents who attended the survey aware of autonomous vehicles, however only %23 of them have knowledge about this technology. While a majority of the respondents 67% have favourable attitude toward autonomous vehicles, only small portion of them 13% found the idea of autonomous vehicles as unattractive. Providing mobility for elderly and disabled people, free time for doing something else while driving, and safe drive for drunk or ill people are among the most indicated benefits of autonomous vehicles. The results also indicated that respondents are most concerned about system and vehicle security from hackers. Despite the concerns, consumers have favourable intention to use autonomous vehicles

SÜRÜCÜSÜZ ARAÇLARA YÖNELİK TÜKETİCİ TUTUMLARI

Year 2017, Volume: 4 Issue: 12, 590 - 603, 01.12.2017
