THE IMPORTANCE OF ERGONOMICS IN DESIGN OF OFFICE FURNITURES: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY
Abstract
The general aim of ergonomics designing of work places and products is to achieve an appropriate matching between the work requirements and personnel capabilities, so as to maximise the performance of the personnel and organizational system. Today, the production of office equipments and machines that are designed according to ergonomic principles and take users measurements and needs into consideration have gained importance as a subject of empirical research. In direction with this fact, this study also explains the importance of ergonomics in design of office furnitures. In this study, concepts related to this subject are examined through literature review and also investigated with an empirical study carried out in Ankara. This study yielded considerable results that will guide to researchers who want to study in this area and to organizations that design of office furniture
