Migration from China to other countries took place at different times and for various reasons. As a result, China has become the third-largest sending country in the world following India and Mexico. The immigrants living outside mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are referred to as 'Overseas Chinese'. Latin America has stood out as a region where overseas Chinese migrated since the 19th century. Although its size and characteristics have changed over time, migration to the region has continued until today. The country with the largest number of Chinese immigrants in the region is Peru. The third-generation descendants of the Chinese, who were brought to the country by 'human trafficking' under the name of 'Contract Worker' and struggled to survive at that time, have increased their social, cultural, political, and economic status today and have risen to important positions in Peruvian society. However, it did not occur smoothly, and Chinese immigrants have been confronted with both social and economic challenges since the 19th century. Chinese "workers", whose names and surnames were even changed in the early periods and who worked like slaves even though it was forbidden, tried to get the support of their homeland in their struggle for rights. China, which was closed to the outside world at that time, agreed to establish diplomatic relations with Peru to solve the problem. Although the Chinese in Peru gained some rights as a result of these initiatives, they were treated as unwelcome persons in the country from time to time. After the foundation of the People's Republic of China, immigration was not allowed, which resulted in a significant decrease in immigration from the mainland. However, immigration from Taiwan has continued. The Chinese, whose numbers have increased over time, have adopted different methods to integrate into the country and increase their social and economic status. The study examines the challenging period experienced by the Chinese and the methods they adopted in this context.
