Abstract
The aim of this research is to examine the metacognitive awareness of Turkish reading skills of students preparing for the Basic Proficiency Test. The universe of the research consists of high school students, and the sample consists of students studying at high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Siirt in the 2019-2020 academic year. In the analysis of the data collected during the research process, the SPSS 22.00 program was used, and the findings were converted into tables and answers were sought to the determined research problems. Before analyzing the data on the metacognitive awareness levels of the students preparing for the Basic Proficiency Test in Turkish reading skill, normality was checked with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. In the controls, it was determined that the research data showed a normal distribution. In this context, parametric analysis methods were used in the analysis of the research data. The metacognitive awareness levels of the students preparing for the Basic Proficiency Test in Turkish reading skills were examined by calculating descriptive statistics such as arithmetic mean and standard deviation. In addition, independent groups t-test; The differentiation status based on grade level, age and school variables was analyzed by ANOVA analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the students who prepared for the Basic Proficiency Test had a very high level of metacognitive awareness in Turkish reading skills.
