Abstract
Since the first years of its emergence, cinema has been in contact with other branches of art and has developed by being influenced by them. The stories that are the subject of the screen are selected from novels or adaptations from other countries' films. The history of adaptation in Turkey dates back to the pre-Republican era. Many films met with the audience by being re-shot by the producers and directors with the remake method, which is a cinematic adaptation method. In this context, subjects such as adaptation, re-conversion and localization are included in the theory-based parts of the study, thus it is aimed to understand the structural processes of films made by adaptation.
In this article; based on the concepts of recycling, adaptation and indigenization. "Miracle in the 7th Ward” movie filmed in Turkey as an adaptation of the Korean movie “Miracle in Cell No. 7”. In the content analysis, the narrative techniques of the films, story development, time and space elements, characters and presentations were compared. In this study, the similarities and differences between the two films are tried to be determined by using the "structural and content analysis" technique. There are differences in the narrative structure of the subject. In the Turkish version, new characters and events were added to the script and the movie ended with a different ending. The subject, characters and places of both films have placed in the same frame. However, in some scenes and dialogues, localized words and emotions are striking. As a result, it is possible to mention that the movie “Miracle in the 7th Ward” adapted from South Korea was localized according to Turkish culture and values.
