Abstract
The existence of a healthy and peaceful society depends on the preservation and survival of universal and social values. At this point, transferring value to individuals, especially children, is of great importance. This transfer can be achieved through family and school as well as literary works. Literary works not only bring pleasure, education and reading habits to the child, but also shed light on the way of being a “good person” by transferring values. Cahit Uçuk is one of the authors who produced works that can serve values education within the framework of children's literature. In this study, the value of “love” in the author's children's novels “Silver Wing” and “Turkish Twins” will be examined. “Love Value” is within the scope of “100 Basic Works” determined by the Ministry of National Education for primary education level and is also included in the secondary school Turkish Textbook). “Turkish Twins”, on the other hand, is a work that has many awards in the national and international arena. The value of "love", which is one of the common root values determined by the Ministry of National Education, is 48 in the “Silver wing”; It was found to be repeated 61 times in “Turkish Twins”; In this state, it has been the subject of the study because it is the most repeated value in the works. In the study, the educational messages that are intended to be given through the “love” value and sub-values "human love", "family love", “love of nature”, “love of animals”, “love of country”, “love of books and reading” are emphasized. At the same time, while the life and literary personality of Cahit Uçuk, who is one of the women writers of the Republican period, is discussed, the place and importance of the author in children's literature has been tried to be determined.
