Child Children's literature is the basic step of the reading culture, which is not limited to the child's world, but gives the child the opportunity to recognize and make sense of his world. Children's literature serves its purpose with original and qualified works. While it aims to support, have a good time and teach, it also aims to ensure the linguistic, personal, cognitive and social development of the child. The fact that it contains the child element in the main center brings the fairy tale genre to the fore in this area. The aim of this study is to reveal whether Yavuz Bahadıroğlu’s book “40 Nights 40 Tales” is suitable for the design and content features that should be found in children's literature products. In the study, the document analysis technique, which is one of the data collection techniques of the qualitative research method, was used. The study material consists of forty tales in the author's book “40 Tales for 40 Nights”. In the research, Yavuz Bahadıroğlu’s work “40 Nights 40 Tales” which includes the fairy tales recommended by the Ministry of National Education and written for child readers, has been examined in terms of the basic principles of children's literature. The tales are analyzed under two headings as design and content features. The book, in terms of design features, cover-bound, page layout, font, paper, size and pictures; In terms of content features, it was examined under the titles of subject-fiction, theme-theme, message, language and expression, educational and literary features, character-hero features and environmental features. In the study, evaluations are based on the basic principles that should be found in children's literature products. It has been concluded that the examined tales are qualified to give children readers the habit of reading, give literary and aesthetic pleasure, and are also suitable to be included as reading texts in textbooks.
