The Place of Afyonkarahisar’s Tourism in the Tourism of Turkey
Abstract
In this study, the place of tourism in Afyonkarahisar in terms of facilities, numbers of rooms and beds along with accommodation and staying overnight statistics of Afyonkarahisar in the tourism of Turkey were examined. The study was also aimed at making suggestions to contribute to tourism sector for the future in the province of Afyonkarahisar by analyzing its developments in the past and present. The number of tourism businesses in the province of Afyonkarahisar has undergone a big increase in recent years while the number of accommodation per night did not increase as it was expected. In order to increase the demand for tourism in the province of Afyonkarahisar, promotion and marketing should be given more importance, types of tourism products should be diversified, the number of high qualified tourism businesses and services should be increased, and natural and cultural touristic attractions should be preserved.
