Abstract
Throughout historyshereason which caused the places ofsettlements to change are mainlvnatura/disaster and dueto secutitv umd economv.As a result of especiallv earthquakes and landslides man)! settlements like Erzincan .Cediz.Cordes had to leave their old p/acesJf it is not regarded that our country is in earthquake riskat various degrees and right choices are 110t made ,there isa bigpossibilty thatnewreplecaments will be adde to the above mentioned ones. In this study, newsettlement places of villages ,\I?hidt had to be rebuilt because o(heavydestructions after Erzurum-Kars eartquake in oaeber, 30,1983,were examined.As a result ofexaminations ,it was observed that some of the newvillages were built in farm lands near their oldsettlements places and some other on mostly hilly eareas If,hich are a little bit far oldsettlementa.Old places ofthe settlements Vf'ere never used.
