Talon Cusp in Maxillary Permanent Incisor Teeth: Case Report

Abstract

Talon cusp is an uncommon developmental dental anomaly referring to an accessory cusp projecting from the cingulum area, or cemento-enamel junction of maxillary or mandibular anterior teeth, in both the primary and permanent dentition. The etiology of talon cusp is not well understood , but appears to have both genetic and environmental components. Permanent dentition have been involved three times more often than the primary dentition. This anomalous cusp may or may not cantain pulpal tissue. It may cause clinical problems such as speech disturbance, occlusal interferences language injuries, esthetic, carries because of these reasons early diagnosis is important for this anomaly. This report present talon cusp is detected right and left upper central teeth of 19-years-old female. Carious tissue was removed carefully and restored with resin composite to prevent food retention. Since the talon cusp of the patient did not irritate the tongue during speech and mastication and interfere with occlusion, no treatment was performed.

Üst Daimi Kesici Dişlerde Talon Tüberkülü: Olgu Sunumu

Abstract

Hem süt hem daimi dişlerde görülebilen talon tüberkülü, üst ve alt ön keser dişlerin mine dentin birleşim bölgesinde veya singulumunda oluşan, tüberküle benzeyen nadir bir diş anomalisidir. Etiyolojisi tam alarak bilinmemektedir, fakat genetik ve çevresel faktörlerin etkili olduğu düşünülmektedir. Görülme sıklığı daimi dişlerde süt dişlerine oranla üç kat daha fazladır. Bu oluşum pulpa dokusu içerebilir. Konuşma bozukluğu, okluzal çatışma, dil yaralanmaları, estetik ve çürük gibi klinik problemlere neden olabileceği için erken tanı bu anomalide önemlidir. Bu olgu sunumunda 19 yaşındaki bayan hastanın sağ ve sol üst santral dişlerinde talon tüberkülü tespit edildi. Çürük dokusu dikkatlice kaldırıldı ve gıda retansiyonunu önlemek için rezin kompozit ile restore edildi. Hastada mevcut olan talon tüberkülüne, konuşma sırasında dili irrite etmediği ve çiğneme sırasında okluzyonu etkilemediği için bir müdahalede bulunulmadı.
