VELİLERİN ‘OKULLARDA FLORÜRLÜ VERNİK UYGULAMASI’ PROGRAMI HAKKINDA TUTUM VE YAKLAŞIMLARININ DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ
Abstract
AMAÇ: Çalışmamızın amacı; Sağlık Bakanlığı tarafından yürütülen “Okullarda Florürlü Vernik Uygulaması” programına dahil edilen, sosyo-ekonomik düzeyi farklı olan iki okulda, velilerin bu uygulama ve genel olarak topikal florür uygulamaları hakkındaki tutum ve yaklaşımlarının değerlendirilmesidir.
GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Çalışmamıza Bayrampaşa İlköğretim Okulu ve İTÜ Geliştirme Vakfı Okullarında eğitim alan, 60 ayını doldurmuş anaokulu, 1. sınıf ve 2. sınıf çocuklarının velileri dahil edildi. Veliler için hazırlanan anket formu kullanılarak elde edilen veriler değerlendirildi.
BULGULAR: Devlet okulundaki 60 velinin %68’i (n=41) çocuklarına okulda topikal florür verniği uygulaması yapılmasına izin verirken, özel okuldaki 70 veliden %43’ü (n=30) çocuklarına okulda uygulama yapılmasına izin vermiştir. Devlet okulunda topikal florür verniği uygulanmasına izin vermeyen 19 velinin %15,8’i (n=3) uygulama hakkında yeterince bilgilendirilmediğini, %26,3’ü (n=5) uygulamanın uygun ortamda yapıldığını düşünmediğini, %26,3’ü (n=5) ise florürün zararlı olduğunu düşündüğünü bildirmiştir. Özel okulda topikal florür verniği uygulamasının yapılmasına izin vermeyen 40 velinin %5’i(n=2) uygulama hakkında yeterince bilgilendirilmediğini, %22,5’i (n=9) uygulamanın uygun ortamda yapıldığını düşünmediğini, %42,5’i (n=17) florürün zararlı olduğunu düşündüğünü bildirmiştir.
SONUÇ: Ağız ve diş sağlığı problemlerinin yaygın olduğu ülkelerde, toplum ağız diş sağlığı programlarında ve koruyucu diş hekimliğinde topikal florür uygulamaları önemli rol oynamaktadır. Toplum ağız diş sağlığını geliştirme programları kapsamında önemli yeri olan koruyucu uygulamalar hakkında velilerin detaylı bir şekilde bilgilendirilmeleri gerekliliği ortaya çıkmıştır.

ASSESSMENT ATTITUDES OF PARENTS ABOUT APPLICATION OF FLUORIDE VARNISH IN SCHOOL-BASED PROGRAMME
AIM: The purpose of this study; is the assessment of attitudes of parents in two different socio-economic classes about the school-based topical fluoride application programme which carried out by the Ministry of Health.
MATERIALS AND METHOD: Parents of 1st and 2nd grade children who completed 60 months at Bayrampaşa Elementary School and ITU Development Foundation Schools included to the study. The data obtained using the questionnaire and than were evaluated.
RESULTS: Parents of the 60 children in the public school 68%(n=41), gave permission for their children to apply topical fluoride in school, while 43%(n=30) of the 70parents in the private school. Sixteen of the parents(n=3) of the children(n=19) who didn’t allow the application of topical fluoride in the public school stated that they were not adequately informed about the application, 26,3%(n=5) of them didn’t think it was done in the appropriate environment and 26,3%(n=5) of them think that fluoride is toxic. Five (n=2) of the parents of the children (n=40) who didn’t allow the application of topical fluoride in the private school stated that they were not adequately informed about the application, 22,5%(n=9)of them did not think it was done in the appropriate environment and 42,5%(n=17) of them think that fluoride is toxic.
CONCLUSION: In countries where oral and dental health problems are common, topical fluoride applications play an important role in community oral health programs and preventive dentistry. It has become necessary to inform the parents in detail about preventive practices, which have an important place in the community dental health improvement programs.
