THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT SURFACE APPLICATIONS ON PRIMARY TOOTH DENTINE CONTAMINATED WITH FERRIC SULFATE, ON THE MICROTENSILE BOND STRENGTH OF THE COMPOMER

Year 2013, Volume: 23 Issue: 2, 159 - 164, 01.02.2013

Abstract

Objective: Effects of different surface applications on primary tooth dentine, contaminated with ferric sulfate used as a primary teeth pulpotomy agent, on μTBS of the compomers were compared. Materials-Methods: Twenty-five caries-free primary second molars were used. The occlusal surfaces were prepared by cutting enamel and dentin perpendicular to the tooth axis 1 mm above the pulp horn. Teeth were randomly divided into five groups. Except the control groups G-1(Phosphoric acid+Futura Bond+ Glasiosite) the teeth were contaminated with ferric sulfate. Other groups were formed as follows: G-2 (Phosphoric acid+Futura Bond+Glasiosite), G-3 (Maleic Acid+Futura Bond+Glasiosite), G-4 (Citric Acid+Futura Bond+Glasiosite) and G-5 (Futura Bond+Glasiosite). Teeth were sectioned as bar-shaped specimens and subjected to microtensile bond strength testing. μTBS data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD tests, and the frequency of fracture modes was compared using Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: G-5 presented the minimum μTBS value, while G-3 presented the maximum. The difference between the groups was found statistically significant (P< 0.05). μTBS values were statistically sequenced as G-3=G-4=G-2>G-4=G-2=G-1>G-5. When fracture modes were compared, no statistically significant difference was found (P>0.05). Conclusion: As a pulpotomy agent, ferric sulfate is recommended to be used with a combination of selfetching primers and different acid types.

DEMİR SÜLFAT İLE KONTAMİNE SÜT DİŞİ DENTİNİNDE FARKLI YÜZEY UYGULAMALARININ KOMPOMERİN MİKRO-GERİLİMİNE ETKİSİ

Year 2013, Volume: 23 Issue: 2, 159 - 164, 01.02.2013

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmada, süt dişi pulpatomi ajanlarından demir sülfat ile kontamine edilmiş süt dişi dentinine farklı yüzey uygulamalarını takiben yerleştirilen kompomer rezin materyalin mikrogerilimi karşılaştırılmıştır. Materyal-Metod: 25 adet çürüksüz süt II. azı dişinin kuronları, radyolojik pulpa odası görüntüsünün 1 mm okluzalinden olacak şekilde yatay pozisyonda kesilmiştir. Dişler eşit sayıda rastgele beş gruba ayrılmıştır. Kontrol grubu[G-1(Fosforik asit+Futura Bond+ Glasiosite)] dışındaki dişler demir sülfat ile 30s süreyle kontamine edilmiş ve 30s süreyle serum fizyolojik ile yıkanmıştır. Diğer gruplar şu şekilde oluşturulmuştur. [G-2(Fosforik asit +Futura bond +Glasiosite), G-3(Maleik Asit +Futurabond + Glossiosit), G-4(Sitrik Asit +Futura bond +Glasiosite) ve G-5(Futura bond +Glasiosite)].
