Abstract

Yapýlan epidemiyolojik çalýþmalar, periodontitisin kardiyovasküler hastalýklar için risk faktörü olabileceðini bildirmektedir. Periodontitis gibi persistanenfeksiyonlar iltihabi ve immün cevabý indükleyerek,aterogenez, koroner kalp hastalýklarý ve miyokardenfarktüsünün geliþiminde rol oynayabilir. Bu literatürderlemesinde hem periodontitis hem de kardiyovasküler hastalýkta rol oynadýðý düþünülen immünolojikve iltihabi mekanizmalar ve ortak predispozan faktörler tartýþýlmaktadýr
