Abstract

Proliferative Periostitis (Garre’s osteomyelitis) is a specific type of chronic osteomyelitis that mostly affects children and adolescents. This chronic disease is characterized by reactive subperiosteal bone formation and nonsuppurative ossifying periostitis as a response to a mild local infection or irritation. Periosteal reaction in Garre's osteomyelitis usually represents an "onion skin" appearance. This disease is rare in occurrence due to the presence of a set of integrated conditions such as chronic infection in a young patient, increased osteoblastic activity and a balance between the virulence of the infectious agents and the resistance of the host. The purpose of this presentation is to report a rare case of Garre's osteomyelitis and to give information about the imaging findings with 2 years follow-up. Abstract

Proliferatif Periostitis (Garre osteomyeliti) daha çok çocuk ve genç erişkinleri etkileyen kronik osteomyelitin özel bir türüdür. Bu kronik hastalık çoğunlukla hafif bir enfeksiyon veya  irritasyona karşı reaktif olarak gelişen  subperiosteal kemik oluşumu ve nonsüpüratif ossifiye periostitis ile karakterizedir. Periost reaksiyonu soğan kabuğu tarzında görülür. Bu hastalığın görülmesi hastanın genç yaşta olması, osteoblastik aktivitenin yeterli olması ve enfeksiyöz ajanların virülansı ile konak direnci arasındaki denge gibi bir dizi oluşumun varlığına bağlı olduğu için nadirdir.

Bu makalede nadir görülen ve iki yıllık takibi olan Garre osteomyeliti olgusu ve radyolojik bulguları ile ilgili bilgi vermeyi amaçladık.
