SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA ARRISING FROM ORAL LICHEN PLANUS: A CASE REPORT

Abstract

Lichenoid reactions represent a family of lesions with different etiologic factors and common clinical and histologic appearance. Lichen planus is a relatively common chronic mucocutaneous lichenoid lesion and the most important complication is malignant transformation. One of the malignant transformation is squamous cell carcinoma. Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common malignancy affecting the oral cavity. The aim of this case report is to present clinical, radiological and histopathological features of squamous cell carcinoma arising from oral lichen planus in a 76-year-old man

Abstract

Likenoid reaksiyonlar, farklı etiyolojik faktörlere bağlı olarak görülen, ortak klinik ve histolojik özelliklere sahip lezyonlardır. Liken planuslar, oral bölgede nispeten sık görülen mukokütanöz likenoid lezyonlardan biridir ve en önemli komplikasyonları malign transformasyon göstermeleridir. Malign transformasyonlarından biri de skuamöz hücreli karsinomlardır. Skuamöz hücreli karsinom, oral kaviteyi etkileyen en sık görülen malignitedir. Bu vaka raporunun amacı, 76 yaşında erkek hastada oral liken planustan gelişen skuamöz hücreli karsinomun klinik, radyolojik ve histopatolojik özelliklerini sunmaktır.
